Ideas for Halloween Party Decorations
Halloween is rapidly approaching, which means you need to get your Halloween party planned. One of the most important things about a Halloween party is that you have ambiance.
You want your guests to arrive and know immediately that this is a special get together for Halloween, not a party that could be mistaken for a birthday or other celebration. The way to create ambiance is through decorations and props. The following suggestions will help you create the right atmosphere for your October 31st party.
Making the party area foggy is a great way to create a Halloween-esque atmosphere. Dry ice is a great way to accomplish this and you can do that with dry ice. Consider placing dry ice around the punch bowl and along the food table to make it appear foggy. You could add dry ice to other areas, too, if you want to emphasize the smokiness. Some people choose to buy a fog machine, but it is up to you how much “smoke” you want.
No Halloween party is complete without some brains on display. You could go to a butcher and buy some pig or cow brains and put them on display, but if that is too realistic for you then simply buy some sauerkraut or boiled red cabbage. Place in a bowl and display as “brains.” You can always split the middle and go for realistic looking but without the actual biological element and buy a bloody brain prop.
You will want to have eyes on display, too, and these are very easy to make. Boil some eggs and then crack their shells. Soak the cracked eggs in a bowl of strong tea for a few minutes, and then peel them. When you do, they will look very realistic and will impress even the most skeptical guest. Above all, they are edible! For the non-edible variety you might want to buy a set of these bloody eyes.
Consider buying some Vienna sausages and displaying them as baby fingers! Afraid someone might eat all your props
then try decorating with a handful of these severed fingers instead.
These suggestions will help you create the right ambiance at your Halloween party as well as provide snacks that are good and “scary” looking!
